“President Obama recently used the phrase that ‘we are at war’ with terrorists. But unfortunately his rhetoric does not match the actions of his administration,” Collins said in the weekly Republican Internet and radio address. “The Obama administration appears to have a blind spot when it comes to the war on terrorism.”

A series of recent controversies – capped by Friday’s decision to pull a key 9/11 trial out of Manhattan – is prompting Republicans to turn up the pressure on President Barack Obama, by resurrecting the kind of “soft on terrorism” charge that has dogged Democrats in the past.

Katie Packer, executive director of the Workforce Fairness Institute, which opposes the card-check legislation, roundly criticized Stern over the comments. Packer added: “Mr. Stern ought to lose his job over these comments, and at minimum he should lose his access to the West Wing,” referring to the release of the first visitor log by the White House, which, ironically, listed Andy Stern as the most frequent visitor.

As scientist and lawyer John Costella wrote, “The emails clearly evidence a course of conduct entered into by a cosy little coterie of climate scientists that could only – even in the most generous of terms – be described as scandalous, and almost certainly criminal.

Obama criticized Republicans for portraying his health-care plan as “some Bolshevik plot” and telling the public that he is “doing all sorts of crazy stuff that is going to destroy America.”

“I am not an idealogue. I’m not,” Obama said.

“There were chuckles in the room when he said that,” Rep. Tom Price said afterward, “because I don’t think the American people believe that.”

“It will make us much less competitive and it will kill high-paying jobs in the U.S.,” Camp said. “He is really misrepresenting what the change in tax law that he is proposing will do.”

President Obama’s State of the Union obviously was a first in more than one way. Obama point blank, called out (to use the modern vernacular) our Supreme Court Justices on national TV. He did so because he politically disagreed with their legal decision. In doing so, Obama demonstrated his supreme arrogance – and let America know just how far he is willing to go to get his way.

Washington is sick and broken—and it can solve all our problems.

Last night President Obama gave a speech that was at times quite eloquent, and on occasion rhetorically empty. But at all times it was the speech of a man who is deeply partisan and dangerously arrogant and is determined to stay a course which has already damaged his party, weakened his country at home and exposed it to attack from abroad.

If President Obama thinks the political disaster that hit his party last month in Massachusetts was bad, he had better brace himself for the Congressional Budget Office’s latest economic forecasts for the next two years.
