Walker faces a bitter recall election funded by national unions because of his reforms which reigned in union control of the state government. Walker’s reforms have reduced property taxes and benefited schools.

Right-to-work states have generally lower unemployment, higher job growth, lower taxes and better business climates. They have growing populations and have been attracting businesses from other states.

The teachers unions are the biggest lobbyists at all levels of government. 99% of their support goes to Democrats. One teachers union actually raised their dues to be able to collect more for the Obama campaign. Are we seeing a pattern here?

Governmental monopoly and subsidization have produced a sheltered, pampered industry devoid of competitive pressures and innovation. Teachers unions now dominate rather than parents or students. As a result, complacency and regression reign and costs soar ever higher.

Illinois has combined $137 billion in pension and healthcare liabilities on top of $9 billion in current unpaid bills. Yet, Illinois legislators will not even ask 6-figure pensioners to pick up a portion of their health premiums.

The unions aren’t done yet: they’re now trying to recall Walker from office. To do so, they will try to convince Wisconsin voters that Walker’s reforms have rendered the state ungovernable. But the evidence, so far, contradicts that claim—and Wisconsinites seem to realize it. – City Journal
