Gunshot Shatters Glass Door Of GOP Office in Maryland

August 27, 2010 09:08

Early Wednesday morning a single gunshot was fired into the Maryland Republican Party’s Salisbury Victory Field Office shattering the office’s front door. No motive has been established in the shooting but according to Maryland Republican Party Chairman Audrey Scott the situation is of great concern.

“Thankfully no one was hurt during this incident and the Maryland Republican Party is cooperating with the Salisbury Police department to get to the bottom of this very disturbing situation,” said Scott. “No motive has been established but whatever the reason may be it is very troubling that someone would do this to our volunteer field office.”

Salisbury Police discovered the vandalism sometime after midnight and filed a report that the Salisbury Victory Office had been vandalized. Upon entering the office this morning, MDGOP field staff discovered a bullet in the office and police have since confirmed it had caused the damage. The Salisbury Victory Field Office is one of seven regional offices that serve as volunteer hubs to spread the message about GOP candidates and encourage Marylanders to vote this fall.

“GOP enthusiasm is through the roof this year and it’s unfortunate an incident like this could discourage participation on the lower shore,” Scott said. “We encourage anyone with information to contact the Salisbury Police Department immediately.”   The Salisbury Police Department can be reached at 410-548-3165. Press inquiries for the police department should be directed to Lt. Rob Kemp.
