Stories involving a Catholic, a Protestant and a Jew typically end with a punch line. We wish that were the case here, but what brings us together is no laughing matter: the threat now posed by government policy to that basic human freedom, religious liberty. – WSJ

Joining a growing chorus of voices that see the Obama administrations decision to force faith based organizations to provide employee insurance which provides abortion pills and contraceptives for free Sen. Marco Rubio says the administration should admit it made a mistake and reverse its decision. The decision came from Health and Human services head Kathleen Sebelius as a result of Obamacare.

The real aim of the Obama administration’s project is to publicly shame those insurers who calculate that they must raise rates, says Merrill Matthews, a resident scholar at the Institute for Policy Innovation.

The Obama administration makes clear you must follow the party line to be eligible for government funding. Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, goes on Fox Business to discuss the Full Committee hearing entitled, “HHS and the Catholic Church: Examining the Politicization of Grants.”

HHS has drafted a religious exemption that is so narrow that it excludes virtually all Catholic hospitals, elementary and secondary schools, colleges and universities, and charitable organizations, none of which impose a litmus test on those they serve, as the HHS mandate would have them do.

What do we call a government that encourages everyone to inform on everyone else? The Terror, as in revolutionary France? The Gestapo, as in Germany? The KGB, as in Russia? Big Brother, as in George Orwell’s 1984? We may need a new name for it.

In such a brave new world, HHS’s dreamt-of reduction in “health disparities” will be achieved, but not simply by improving the health of minorities. Everyone else’s health must be degraded.

As of March 4, the number of health care waivers granted to various companies, unions and non-profit organizations stood at 1,040, up from 222 in December. A total of 2,624,720 people are covered by the 1,040 waivers.
