Taking a strong stand on pornography

Over 30 of Australians leading child experts have signed a letter to the Standing Committee of Attorneys-General/Censorship Ministers calling for a ban on the sale of magazines like Playboy and Penthouse, generally considered “soft porn,” from newsstands, convenience stores, and gas stations, where young people have easy access to them.

Pornography is Addictive, Pervasive and Harmful

Scholars from Princeton’s Witherspoon Institute sounded an alarm telling the nation that pornography is more prevalent and more harmful than most people realize. Research shows that pornography addicts are six times more likely to rape. In fact, porn addiction doubles the likelihood that a man will sexually assault his partner. Of the rapists and child molesters who are incarcerated, 83 percent of the rapists and 67 percent of the child molesters consume high rates of pornography.

Texas University Hosts Porn for Bibles Exchange

I’ve never been so embarrassed to be called a Texan. Normally, I’d be proud to associate with others from the Lone Star State, but right now I’m ashamed! The University of Texas at San Antonio will host the annual Smut for Smut event, an atheist group’s initiative encouraging college students to exchange their religious texts (Bibles, Korans, etc.) for pornography.
