It’s government — and public labor unions — that drive costs up and drive quality down.

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees is now the biggest outside spender of this year’s elections, dropping a total of $87.5 million to help fortify the Democrats’ hold on Congress.

“Limitations on the workforce mix of full-time and part-time postal employees and workforce flexibility rules contained in contracts with USPS’s unions are key detriments of how postal work is organized and, thus, of its cost,” the GAO report said.

Labor officials told the Wall Street Journal last month they planned to exceed the record $53 million spent in the 2008 election season in the 2010 campaigns.

This is blatant bribery at the highest level of government. Unions spent almost half a TRILLION dollars electing Obama and Democrats and now taxpayers must pay 30% more for everything contracted by the government to pay back the unions. These people should go to jail!

Hell hath no fury like a teacher’s union scorned. To close a $10.7 billion budget deficit, New Jersey’s Republican Governor Chris Christie last month proposed slashing education by $820 million, an equivalent to a 5% cut for each school district. That follows on the heels of an across-the-board pay freeze.

Not enough to give them GM and Chrysler, unions now want US to pay for their exorbitant pensions.

The White House picks its most frequent visitor to sit on its deficit commission. He believes in big government, in big spending, and that the workers of the world should unite. What could go wrong? You don’t reduce spending and deficits by appointing to a deficit commission a union boss who believes in increasing both.
