“This bill is loaded up with pork projects and should not get a vote. Congress should listen to the American people and stop this reckless spending.” – Sen. Thune

Damn the will of the people full spending ahead!

Deaf and dumb is the only way to describe the Democrats in this lame duck session of congress. America stands at the brink of financial collapse and  Democrats load a massive omnibus spending bill with over 6,000 earmarks. Harry Reid has threatened to keep the lame duck senate in session on Christmas and right up until the new congress convenes to get this last ditch pork pie passed.

John McCain had it right when he said Americans are tired of ‘massive bills just like this one put together behind closed doors and rammed through the congress at the last minute so that no one has the opportunity to read them and no one really knows what kind of waste is in them.’

Alexander Bolton at The Hill.com reports Sen. Thune as saying:

“The attempt by Democrat leadership to rush through a nearly 2,000-page spending bill in the final days of the lame-duck session ignores the clear will expressed by the voters this past election,” Thune said in a statement. “This bill is loaded up with pork projects and should not get a vote. Congress should listen to the American people and stop this reckless spending.”

And yet despite the public outrage over spending and the historical election results even some Republicans plan to vote for it.

The Hill.com:

‘Bennett said earmarks in the bill might give some of his GOP colleagues reason to hesitate but wouldn’t affect his vote.

GOP Sens. Kit Bond (Mo.), George Voinovich (Ohio) and Susan Collins (Maine) also told The Hill on Tuesday they would consider voting for the omnibus but want to review it before making a final decision.’

Washington Times reports that the senate bill even adds House earmarks:

“Senators also picked up the slack for their House colleagues, whose bill was devoid of pork-barrel earmarks, by including House lawmakers’ requests in the Senate‘s own bill. Still, earmarks total less than 1 percent of the bill’s spending.”

What part of stop the spending don’t they understand? As the US balances on a fiscal precipice with the national debt fast approaching $14 TRILLION and unfunded liabilities of almost $112 TRILLION this continued spending is insane and treasonous.
