The recent boom of the Bakken oil fields—made possible by a perfect storm of sensible state regulations, the fracking process, and the fact that most drilling is taking place on private lands—has produced a whirlwind of economic growth in a formerly sleepy corner of northwest North Dakota. Recently, a team from The Heritage Foundation and the Institute for Energy Research (IER) traveled out West to see it for ourselves.

It has taken three and a half years into Barack Obama’s presidency for most Americans to realize that he has been deliberately destroying America by driving up the nation’s debt and deficit, reducing privately held wealth, forcing millions onto the public dole, undermining its moral structure, and weakening the nation’s reputation internationally.

Right now the ingredients for a “perfect storm” are developing in Europe. Government spending is being slashed all across the continent, ECB monetary policy is very tight, new regulations and deteriorating economic conditions are causing major banks to cut back on lending and there is panic in the air.

While running for office and telegraphing his distributive goals Mr. Obama said we need to spread the wealth around. Chairman Bernanke has said the government can produce as many U.S. dollars as it wishes at no cost. However, no matter what these two wannabe puppet masters may believe there is no free lunch.

Clinton supporter Larry Kudlow wants Obama to listen to Bill Clinton on taxes. Kudlow says spend, spend, spend is all Obama talks about.

Spend more and add more to the debt is still the Obama solution to the failing economy. If it didn’t work in the first three and a half years should we try it again? As a senator Obama called spending and debt (which was less than his) irresponsible and unpatriotic. What changed?

In one of his few honest moments Obama said if the economy didn’t improve his presidency would be “a one term proposition.” Now as the economy slides he desperately blames Bush (still), Europe, headwinds, and Republicans. The truth is that his core policies have harmed the economy and continue to kill jobs, raise energy costs and limit business expansion.
