It is all kabuki theater. The on-budget deficit of $1 trillion is a bad joke. The real deficit is at least 11 times larger. There is no way to solve the problem of the unfunded liabilities of the federal government, other than by some form of default. Somebody’s goose is going to get cooked.

“Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.” – Senator Barack Obama when the debt was “only” about $10 trillion.

The socialist Democrats have always increased spending and then called for more taxes. Nothing has changed except a few names. Obama doesn’t want to lead. The Democrats do not want real solutions. They only want power. Power bought with the hard earned money of productive Americans. Americans are selling their liberty and the security and freedom of their children and grandchildren for false promises of free phones, government run healthcare and an ever expanding pool of poor duped citizens who think they can only survive on the government dole. The Democrats and Obama have already bankrupted America.

Ever-growing entitlements have put spending on a trajectory toward a European-level implosion. If they are not reined in, taxes on everyone will have to rise perpetually just to keep pace.

It is outrageous that U.S. senators would support a treaty that surrenders U.S. sovereignty and family integrity to unelected UN bureaucrats.

We are on the Obama Express to Fascism disguised as an American version of Euro-Socialism. This may sound harsh to anyone who is unfamiliar with the actual definition of Fascism: socialism with a capitalist veneer.

Unfortunately, if past experience in Iran is any guide, the Obama administration will align itself with the jihadist oppressors, rather than their anti-Islamist opponents. It will try to thwart any congressional effort to restrict further engagement with the Morsi regime, for example by cutting off or conditioning foreign aid and military sales.

Could it be that rich and productive countries are tired of subsidizing social welfare, re-distribution of wealth schemes, failed multiculturalism, and sloth?

Perhaps the only hope is that enough freedom-minded Americans contact their senators [202-224-3121] to say their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms will have to be pried from their cold, dead hands. – IBD

What, then, might happen to America? Considering the current economic situation, some kind of collapse is of course possible. Most likely the United States will change into something else, into a “soft” totalitarian society envisioned by Alexis de Tocqueville, where its citizens are “cared for” but weighted down by mountains of rules and bereft of any dynamism, creativity, or imagination—subservient, socialist, and senile.
