ATHENS—Greece’s fiscal crisis took a new turn to violence Wednesday when three people died in a firebomb attack amid a paralyzing national strike, while governments from Spain to the U.S. took steps to prevent the widening financial damage from hitting their own economies.

On April 30th, Progressives marched on Wall Street to vilify Wall Street banks and bankers. Who organized that march? It was a group called National People’s Action (NPA), and their anti-capitalist campaign is ominously titled Showdown In America.

The executive order, implemented in mid-April, encourages federal agencies to use “project labor agreements” or PLAs on their construction projects, which could require any non-union workers to pay into ailing union pension funds and follow work guidelines set out by a union.

When you see public employees and the refugees from ACORN out in the street this week decrying Wall Street greed, remember that they are not fighting to take power away from big banks, but to instead control that power themselves. Tucked into the 1,250 pages of new rules proposed by Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., is a provision that gives new powers to board members. And that could mean big payoffs for the unions down the road.

The steady advance of unionization in the public sector under Obama — and the use of federal power to increase organized labor in the private sector — is leading the U.S. to the edge of syndicalism, the takeover of capitalism by unions for the purpose of political control.
