Capitalism is an economic system. Greed exists in all economic systems because it is a human trait. The problem is people confuse greed with wealth. Greed is defined as the “excessive or rapacious desire, esp. for wealth or possessions.” Self interest is not greed. The normal desire to have food, shelter and protection is not an excessive desire. Capitalism rewards the productivity that results from self interest.

Oregon voted to raise taxes on the top 2% of earners last year and saw revenues drop by one third.

Our Constitution was established to limit government, to protect the citizens from government. It allowed all to pursue their own personal interests.

The great weakness of bad faith is that it disallows American exceptionalism as a rationale for power. It puts Mr. Obama and the Democrats in the position of forever redeeming a fallen nation, rather than leading a great nation.

Understanding that failed government policies, not market failure, caused our economic challenges is critical to defining the appropriate cures. Since government created the problem, i.e. caused the disaster, it is irrational to believe that more government is the cure.
