A clerical error of one wrong page in a thousand page application cost New Jersey over $400 million in federal funding. Christie explains in a way only Christie can.

“He’s a much better communicator than we realized, and people seem to be willing to go along with him for now,” said Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute. “He uses clear language, he doesn’t mince words, he’s funny, and he says what he thinks.”

New Jersey had a 37% budget deficit and a bipartisan effort just passed Gov. Chris Christie’s budget which reduces spending by 9%.

Taking on bloated unions and cutting spending without raising taxes has made Gov. Christie a favorite with conservatives.

All seven members of an advisory panel charged with reviewing nominations to New Jersey’s Superior Court resigned Wednesday, with six saying they objected to Gov. Christie’s decision not to renominate Justice John Wallace Jr. to the state Supreme Court.

“The teachers’ unions are trying to send a signal to all fiscal conservatives that it’s not worth it to try to tackle legacy costs that are bankrupting states and the Federal Government,” Gillespie said in an interview. “Conservatives around the country should be rallying to his defense and supporting those who are supporting him.”
