These subsidies have and continue to enjoy bipartisan support precisely because they benefit both Republicans and Democrats come election time, when they can say they helped create jobs for their district and state. But targeted tax credits and other subsidies are wasteful and economically destructive for four fundamental reasons:

Will The War On Coal Unplug Obama In November?
As coal use drops, job losses rise and electricity prices skyrocket, an electoral map of the 16 top coal-mining states does not bode well for an administration whose energy policy consists of algae and exploding electric cars. – IBD
Shale Gas Boom Creates Jobs and Saves Consumers Billions
Sure seems like a win, win, win situation – an energy stimulus program that didn’t require any taxpayer support and wasn’t even part of any intentional energy policy from Washington.
Blowing Wind Up Your Skirt
The wind industry actually shed 10,000 jobs since 2009 at the same time the energy capacity of wind farms had doubled. Meanwhile, the oil and gas industry had added 75,000 jobs. How many more jobs would have been added if the Obama administration had not imposed a drilling moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico.
Climate Nazis
So you need to understand that you are no better than a fruit fly and you need to die in order to avoid depleting the planet’s supply of food and its energy resources. God knows I would like to ignore or—better still—never have to hear from these climate Nazis, but that is not going to happen so long as The New York Times, the United Nations, and a host of others keep repeating their lethal lies.
The sky is falling, the sky is falling – quick, redistribute the wealth
The screeching charlatans of the global warmists have come out of the closet and admitted their goal is redistribution of wealth. They’ve abandoned any pretense of science and instead are amping up the hysteria aimed at scaring you into paying up lest you die in your own carbon footprint.

Such policies will make food, clothing, shelter, transportation, and medical care – in short, everything – more expensive and scarce, create more unemployed workers, push many people back into conditions of poverty and deprivation, and gravely impair human health and welfare. This strategy will not save the planet, as they hope, because one of its first casualties will be environmental stewardship.
Convenient Lies and Governance of the Earth
These 33 social scientists do not want to stop just at transfer of wealth, destroying the middle class, erasing national boundaries, and neutering national governments, they want to “change the behavior of citizens,” and re-orient “the private sector toward a green economy.”
Sierra Club Radicals Declare Another War, This Time Against Common Sense
They have just declared war on the natural-gas industry. The Sierra Club already has their “Beyond Coal” campaign, and “Beyond Oil,” and they are renaming their efforts against natural gas as “Beyond Gas”. Clever.
California shows how progressives destroy middle class
Over the past decade, as California consolidated itself as a bastion of modern progressivism, the state’s class chasm has widened considerably. To close the gap, California needs to embrace pro-growth policies, especially in the critical energy and industrial sectors—but it’s exactly those policies that the progressives most strongly oppose. – City Journal
