Joke-telling robots, expensive walking tunnels, Blackberries for smokers, and training American prostitutes to drink responsibly. What do these things have in common? They’re all questionable government spending projects in a time when our economy is struggling and people can’t get jobs….or, maybe we just made them up.

Stimulus dollars buys cocaine for monkeys and other worthless uses
Cocaine for monkeys? How much of that was kicked back in campaign contributions? Senators John McCain and Tom Coburn, M.D. have issued a report on money wasted in stimulus projects. Its called Summertime Blues and lists many ludicrous incidents of blatantly wasteful spending.

Tax dollars fund leftist global group OECD
American taxpayers finance nearly one-fourth of the budget for the Paris-based Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, an international bureaucracy that routinely advocates for more government – including more taxes and spending in the United States. In just the past couple of years, the OECD has used American tax dollars to advocate Obamacare-type health policies, push for failed Keynesian stimulus spending, promote Al Gore-style carbon taxes, and urge the enactment a value-added tax.

U.S. Has Paid $1.44 Million for Project That is Studying the ‘Social Milieu’ of Male Prostitutes in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi
(CNSNews.com) – The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), has so far awarded $1.44 million in federal funds to a project that, among other things, is estimating the size of the population and examining the “social milieu” of male prostitutes in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

GAO chief says government wastes $98 billion a year on improper payments
Acting Comptroller General Gene Dodaro said Friday the federal government likely wastes about $98 billion on mistaken transactions and other improper payments. He also criticized the federal government’s inability to effectively collect taxes or secure its computer systems and pressed for action on financial regulatory reform.
