DeMint: CO Buck’s rise mimics Rubio
“I haven’t seen anything like what’s happening in Colorado since Marco Rubio in Florida. I’m very honored to have the privilege to endorse Ken Buck today,” DeMint said in a conference call with reporters.

South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint endorsed Tea Party powered Colorado Senate candidate Ken Buck Wednesday, comparing his brisk rise to Marco Rubio’s insurgent campaign in Florida.
“I haven’t seen anything like what’s happening in Colorado since Marco Rubio in Florida. I’m very honored to have the privilege to endorse Ken Buck today,” DeMint said in a conference call with reporters.
POLITICO first reported DeMint’s plan to back Buck Tuesday, when former lieutenant governor Jane Norton announced she would skip the GOP state assembly next month and instead petition her way onto the August primary ballot.
DeMint explained that after watching the GOP primary in Colorado play out, Buck emerged as the candidate in the field with the clearest conservative message on repealing the health care law, reigning in spending and pledging to fight for term limits.
“That was my cue . . . seeing that the people that are most engaged in this primary are gravitating to Ken Buck,” DeMint said. “I waited to make sure that he was the one that was being embraced by this grass roots conservative movement that we’re seeing all over the country,” he added.
DeMint’s backing will also provide Buck with financial assistance from his Senate Conservatives Fund, a political action committee that claims credit for donating $343,000 to Rubio’s Senate bid.
