North and South Korea fire artillery shells
North and South Korea fire artillery shells across their tense western sea border, in one of the most serious clashes since the Korean War in the 1950s. North Korea fired artillery barrages onto a South Korean island near their disputed border Tuesday, setting buildings alight and prompting South Korea to return fire and scramble fighter jets. One South Korean marine was killed. (Nov. 23)
