“Bigotry” Codeword for Capitalism
Actually, socialism and liberalism ultimately lead to more violence than capitalism and freedom. This is because socialism restrains and inhibits the creation of wealth. It does so in the name of equalization and “fairness,” but it has the effect of impairing if not destroying the wealth creators who make society so livable.

You can always find people willing to exploit a crisis. Consider Pima County AZ Sheriff Clarence Dupnik, who interpreted the recent shooting of a Congresswoman, federal judge and others in his state as follows: “When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government. The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous. And unfortunately, Arizona, I think, has become the capital. We have become the mecca for prejudice and bigotry.”
I don’t know the motives or political views of the Sheriff, and I don’t especially care. What I know for sure is that the liberals and socialists who inhabit the White House, the U.S. Senate, the federal bureaucracy, all of academia, much of the Internet and all of the news media (except for Fox News) will claim more or less the same thing.
The reasoning goes like this: “Unbalanced people are vulnerable. It doesn’t take much to push them over the edge. Views in opposition to liberalism are responsible for pushing these people over the edge, and leading to tragic violence.”
If you think about it, it’s a liberal “two-fer.”
First, the liberal gets to treat the criminal as vulnerable and helpless, not responsible for his violent action but rather the byproduct of other people’s opinions and statements. Liberals love excusing and feeling sorry for violent thugs. Second, the liberal gets to lump together irrational hatred and any opposition at all to socialism, Obama’s liberalism or other policies that are ruling the day.
The shooter in this tragedy reportedly is a fan of Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” as well as Karl Marx’s “Communist Manifesto.” Does interest in these books explain his violence? Of course not. Thousands of people have read these books and have not turned to violence. It’s true that both Hitler and Marx were spokesmen and philosophers for evil, insane ideologies. But the killer is still responsible for his own actions. The same would be true if he was a fan of the American Constitution, Thomas Paine, or Thomas Jefferson. The truth or falsehood of an idea does not rest on those who twist and distort that idea.
The Congresswoman who was shot was a Democrat. She was criticized by Tea Party and limited government advocates such as Sarah Palin for supporting ObamaCare, among other positions. Somehow, we’re supposed to consider opposition to ObamaCare and support of limited government as equivalent to “prejudice and bigotry.” Normally, prejudice and bigotry refer to opposition to someone because of something they cannot control — their race, their ethnic or cultural background, or their nationality. This Arizona Sheriff has set the tone for the coming weeks and months. “Republicans want to cut spending and roll back laws such as ObamaCare. Only racism and bigotry could motivate such policies. And look at the violence towards which those policies lead.”

If you didn’t have Andrew Carnegies, Henry Fords, Bill Gates and all the rest who make millions or billions, society would not look the same. Sure, everybody would be equal — equally poor, that is. In a capitalist society you have uneven incomes with the income and standard of living always rising for everybody willing to work (and even for many unwilling to work, who live off family or friends). In a socialist society you have stagnation, despair and growing poverty for an equally impoverished population (except perhaps for those in the government). People who push for more and more socialism are, whether they care to know it or not, advocating for a more unstable, impoverished and surely more violent society.
Did the crazy guy in Arizona who shot the Congresswoman and the judge do it because of socialism? Of course not. He did it because he’s mixed up and violent. It shouldn’t be blamed on any political ideology or trend. But because he shot a woman more associated with Obama and liberalism than the opposite, you had better believe it will be. When violence erupts, capitalism always gets the blame. That’s what they mean by “bigotry.”
