President’s Budget Irresponsible – Doesn’t Address Fiscal Crisis

“The president’s agenda has always depended on big government and big spending, and there is no evidence that this one is any different.” – Rep. Tom Price

By Rep. Tom Price

“Massive spending increases and government expansion led to today’s record deficits and contribute to chronically high unemployment,” said Chairman Price. “The president’s agenda has always depended on big government and big spending, and there is no evidence that this one is any different. With the fiscal and economic challenges facing our nation, the administration’s budget proposal tells the American people that this White House does not understand the severity of our fiscal mess and is unwilling to address it. It is a repackaging of the bigger government agenda that has marked the past two years.

“The American people are looking to Washington to get its fiscal house in order and make the type of difficult decisions families all across the country have been making for years. For all the tough talk about fiscal responsibility we have heard from the White House in the lead up to today’s budget release, this proposal paves the way for trillions more in debt, imposes over a trillion dollars in tax increases, and does not put our nation on the path to a balanced budget. It will ‘freeze’ spending at levels that are reckless and massively inflated in the wake of an economic crisis Democrats used to expand the role and cost of government. House Republicans are dedicated to real, responsible reforms and fiscal sanity. We are leading the way in securing our future and look forward to producing a responsible budget that rolls back the size of government, tackles our deficits, and does not raise taxes.”
