New UC San Diego study shows warming occurred many times naturally

Researchers have determined that intense global warming has occurred  naturally throughout history and more frequently than once thought.

A new study by Scripps Institution of Oceanography researchers titled “Eocene global warming events driven by ventilation of oceanic dissolved organic carbon” according to an article by UC San Diego. The release states:

“Bursts of intense global warming that have lasted tens of thousands of years have taken place more frequently throughout history than previously believed, according to evidence gathered by a team led by Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego researchers.’

How will the warmers convince us that this was human use of carbon dioxide that caused all these extreme “climate changes”?

The article says the study showed that temperatures reached near the same levels as the warmers are saying will be caused by human caused warming:

“Most of the events raised average global temperatures between 2° and 3° Celsius (3.6 and 5.4° F), an amount comparable to current conservative estimates of how much temperatures are expected to rise in coming decades as a consequence of anthropogenic global warming.”

While the article tries to imply that the study shows the dangers of the non existent current man caused warming, it really establishes that warming (climate change) if and when it happens is a naturally occurring event that has happened many times in the past.

The article says the study even claims to substantiate that the historical warming periods were caused by naturally occurring releases of carbon dioxide:

“In the cores, evidence of the warm periods presented itself in bands of gray sediment layered within otherwise pale greenish mud. The gray sediment contained increased amounts of clay left after the calcareous shells of microscopic organisms were dissolved on the sea floor. These clay-rich intervals are consistent with ocean acidification episodes that would have been triggered by large-scale releases of carbon dioxide. Large influxes of carbon dioxide change the chemistry of seawater by producing greater amounts of carbonic acid in the oceans.

The authors concluded that a release of carbon dioxide from the deep oceans was a more likely cause of the hyperthermals than other triggering events that have been hypothesized.”

From the study:

“Specifically, we interpret our records to indicate repeated, large-scale releases of dissolved organic carbon (at least 1,600 gigatonnes) from the ocean by ventilation (strengthened oxidation) of the ocean interior.”

Oops! Another nail in the coffin for anthropogenic global warming (climate change) fears. So will the EPA stop destroying the American economy with its CO2 regulations? Will Obama stop trying to increase the cost of energy and oil?

Don’t count on it. The climate policies of the left are not about the environment. They are about control of the economy and industry and the resulting redistribution of wealth.
