The New Dark (Green) Age

Their long-term agenda is to destroy human industry and reduce human population. Thus they are opposed to farming, mining, fishing, forestry, exploration and cheap power.

By Viv Forbes – The Carbon Sense Coalition

Last week while driving, I happened to hear part of the farewell speech of Senator Nick Minchin. We will sorely miss people like this stalwart senator. It struck me that this one sad event was like the bell tolling for the new Dark Age to come. In the next few weeks, unless a miracle occurs, and for the first time ever, dark greens and their fellow travellers will gain control of the both houses of parliament in Australia.

No doubt we have won the battle for the minds of the Australian people – every poll shows a strong majority is opposed to the tax on carbon dioxide. And there is growing scepticism for the claim that man causes climate change. But the green elite, who have never won majority support in their own right, are determined to pursue their destructive goals.

Their long-term agenda is to destroy human industry and reduce human population. Thus they are opposed to farming, mining, fishing, forestry, exploration and cheap power.

Their preferred strategy is to divide and conquer. Their tactics are to grab any real concern and magnify and divert it into another reason to destroy or hobble the industries they hate – cattle, sheep, mining, oil and gas, uranium, farming, forestry, fishing and land developers. Their greatest success is achieved when they harness and inflame one industry and use it to ram another – use farmers to destroy the gas industry, use animal lovers and meat workers to destroy live exports, use small business to attack big business, make all industries compete against one another for a dwindling supply of emission permits, get farmers to fight food retailers, cry crocodile tears about the loss of fertile land, and then lock up grazing land in trees, heritage areas and other sterilised ground. And all the time they use their domination of the government media and education empires to spread their half-truths.

They know that the best way to encourage fights is to destroy all vestiges of defined property rights and to encourage poorly defined and overlapping rights, so that eventually nothing can be done on any property without approval and adjudication from the local green committee.

The Green Guards are coming, and they will be far more oppressive and destructive than Mao’s Red Guards.

What do we do?

There is no choice. As Churchill said once, it is best to fight now, while we are still on our feet, or we will be forced to fight later, when we are on our knees.

If, as appears likely, they manage to ram a carbon (dioxide) tax down our throat, we must continue the fight to abolish it together with all the other climate taxes, subsidies, mandates and bureaucracy.

At the start they will use the favoured Fabian tactic – make the introduction of the new tax as painless as possible, just to get the principle established. Years ago, when the Whitlam government proposed virtual nationalisation of the medical industry, he was asked “How will you overcome opposition from the private doctors?” His very perceptive answer: “Stuff their mouths with money”, which he did.

So we can expect that the initial carbon dioxide tax will be at a low rate, it will have many exemptions, and there will be massive bribery of consumers, taxpayers and pensioners.

Then when no industries close immediately on introduction of the tax and there are no sad stories of aged pensioners freezing in the dark, people will forget about the carbon tax and the big squeeze will begin.

No matter what happens in the next few months, we must fight to stop/abolish the tax and make sure those planning to live off the carbon tax teat are warned of the risks they take. For example, directors who waste shareholders money on things like wind farms or carbon sequestration should be warning their investors that there is a distinct risk that all the subsidies, tax breaks, market mandates and protected high prices may go immediately after the next electoral rout.

The alarmists want to ration our access to cheap energy and cheap food.

Their promise is a New Dark Age – a dark green age.

BRICS or PIGS?

It’s time that Australia and New Zealand, the climate fools of the Pacific, stopped aping the failed anti-carbon policies of a decaying Europe and got in step with our buoyant customers and competitors who are immune to the European madness.

Europe was led into the green swamp by Germany, UK, Denmark and California. Now, more than any other large region on earth, Europe has embraced the green energy dream.

For places like France, which gets 78% of its electricity from nuclear plants and 10% from hydro, Scandinavia with nuclear and hydro, and Iceland with hydro and geothermal, this is not burdensome.

But for countries who have been driven by green zealots into the solar energy shade or the wind energy doldrums, rising power costs are destroying their industry, jobs and prosperity.

Contrast the PIGS Group of climate alarmists (Portugal, Ireland, Greece and Spain) with the BRICS Group of climate realists (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa).

While the PIGS suffer one financial crisis after another, the BRICS continue their rapid expansion of coal power, step up exploration for oil and gas, exploit every silly carbon credit scheme and happily manufacture solar panels and wind turbines to sell to the true believers.

Unless Australia and New Zealand wake up, they will find their industry exported to the BRICS and their poverty imported from the PIGS.

(And they are now pinning their hopes on solar power, in an area that may get about an hour of sunshine per day in winter!)

Australian Tour by Christopher Monckton

Christopher Monckton is well informed on all aspects of the climate debate. He understands the details of the science dispute and understands the political agendas. And he is a very effective speaker.

Therefore he is a target for the climate alarmists. They will smear him, protest at meetings, and denigrate those who associate with him.

The PC crowd are now in a lather because of a statement made overseas by Lord Monckton.

Andrew Bolt describes it well:

“What hypocrites. What cowards. And, yes, I’m talking about the witch-hunters now vilifying sceptic Lord Christopher Monckton.

“Beware. These people are trying to shut up not just Monckton, but you — and not just with “jokes” of having you tattooed and gassed.

“True, Monckton, a British mathematician, has made a fool of himself and trouble for his allies by accusing the Gillard Government’s global warming guru, Professor Ross Garnaut, of having “a fascist point of view”.

“His point was that Garnaut was telling Australians to simply trust the authorities — even when some of their key claims about man-made global warming had been proven false.”

Very prominent alarmists have said that coal company executives should be in jail, others suggest they should be denied freedom to speak, and they continually they use the term “denier” which to many people is far more offensive than “fascist”. This is OK of course.

“Fascism” is merely a word denoting a form of government. There are four distinct philosophies of government:

  1. Anarchy, which means no central government.
  2. Constitutional government, which is a system where there is a government but all productive property is privately owned and the government is limited by a strong constitution to protecting the life, liberty and property of every citizen.
  3. Fascism/Nazism, which is a system where there is nominal private ownership of the means of production, but total government control of every aspect of business and life. The government is aggressively nationalist. There is close collaboration between big government and big business. Everything is done via collective organisations. Censorship and controlled media is the norm. Individuals are largely powerless.
  4. Communism, which is a system where government owns all productive property and has total control of all aspects of business and life. The collective owns and rules everything, including the media. Communists are generally aggressive internationalists.

The carbon tax/emissions trading system promoted by Garnaut, Gillard and the Greens will result in total government control of the “carbon footprint” of every business and eventually of every person. Deals will be done between collectives representing big government, big business and big unions. The tax/subsidy system will be use to manipulate the economy and reduce consumer choice. The constitution gives us no protection from this assault.

So, Monckton is right – it is a philosophy best described as fascism. But if we also hand control of our economy to international agreements like the Kyoto agreement promoted by the UN’s IPCC, it starts to become international fascism, just one step away from the goal of Karl Marx.

We urge people to attend the Monckton functions because the opposition will try to frighten us away with smears and personal attacks on him and his associates. His cause is our cause.

Dr David Evans on:
“What is really going on with the climate?”

“The earth has been in a warming trend since the depth of the Little Ice Age around 1680. Human emissions of carbon dioxide were negligible before 1850 and have nearly all come after WWII, so human carbon dioxide cannot possibly have caused the trend. Within the trend, the Pacific Decadal Oscillation causes alternating global warming and cooling for 25 – 30 years at a go in each direction. We have just finished a warming phase, so expect mild global cooling for the next two decades.

“Even if Australia stopped emitting all carbon dioxide tomorrow, completely shut up shop and went back to the Stone Age, according to the official government climate models it would be cooler in 2050 by about 0.015 degrees. But their models exaggerate tenfold – in fact our sacrifices would make the planet in 2050 a mere 0.0015 degrees cooler!

“Finally, to those of you who still believe the planet is in danger from our carbon dioxide emissions: sorry, but you’ve been had. Yes carbon dioxide is a cause of global warming, but it’s so minor it’s not worth doing much about”.

U.S. Supreme Court kicks out global warming

Judges of the Supreme Court in the United States this week threw out a case based on global warming. The judges ruled that:

“The court decision noted that the Environmental Protection Agency itself had “acknowledge[ed] that not all scientists agreed on the causes and consequences of the rise in global temperatures.”

So in other words, legally, there is no scientific consensus. For Garnaut or any politician to now claim a consensus on the science is simply dishonest and misleading the public. The court also included recommended reading including a comment from Princeton’s Freeman Dyson, perhaps America’s most respected scientist, written in the New York Times Magazine, March 29, 2009.

“Freeman, an unabashed skeptic [and a member of the GWPF’s Academic Advisory Council], believes that carbon dioxide, rather than being harmful, is both necessary and desirable, arguing that “increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.”

“The Supreme Court is simply in denial .. those judges are obviously sceptics and industry stooges!”
