Matters approach a critical state around the world. Most of the advanced economies, including the U.S., are insolvent (see here and here). It is mathematically impossible for these countries to avoid defaults on financial and social obligations. Spending cuts and tax hikes are also inevitable. The tipping point for such actions was passed years ago.

There are millions of people out there that have become extremely comfortable receiving government benefits and it will be extremely difficult to ever get them to give them up. After all, why bust your behind for 40 or 50 hours a week at some meaningless, low paying job when you can live a similar lifestyle by just depending on government benefits?

45% increase in food stamps, 32% increase in hand outs and a quadrupling of corporate welfare make Obama the king of socialism and crony capitalism at the same time.

Obama used Spain’s green initiative as a blueprint for how the United States should use federal funds to stimulate the economy. Obama’s economic stimulus package allocated billions of dollars to the green jobs industry.

Gov. McDonnell points out that you have already paid income tax on the money you invest. If that investment makes a gain it is taxed as capital gains. Obama believes capital gains taxes should be higher to reflect “fairness” even if the revenues to the government would be lower which has been shown to be the case over time.

What is the worst cost of the Fed? It has made the federal government, no matter how big it gets, beyond failure. This is the ultimate moral hazard. It has puffed up the leviathan state beyond anything that should ever exist in the world. It’s not taxes that have done this. It is the Fed. In this way, it has made itself the ultimate enemy of freedom itself. And as goes freedom, so goes human rights.

Obama’s anti-energy policies have had a chilling on oil and gas production on federal lands. Not surprising considering his energy secretary is infamous for having said “Somehow we have to figure out a way to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe” which were above $7 a gallon at the time.

“We are now three years into this presidency and there are no plans to save social security, there’s still no plan to save Medicare, there’s still no serious plan to reduce the national debt. none of these things have been addressed. And there are no plans to incentivize job creators. …I don’t think that ever in modern American history have we ever seen a national leader so blatantly try to divide Americans against each other, stand up before the country and basically say that the only way that some of us can be better off is to make other people worse off. That the only way some of us can progress is by making sure that other people have less money.

They don’t want taxpayers to know about the trillions they’re wasting. A published budget would be an election-year death warrant for Senate Democrats, because Republican Senate candidates would stuff its highlights into every mailbox they could. – IBD
