At the very least, can our economy survive such a crushing burden of government spending, and its attendant level of taxes and debt? Given this looming disaster, President Obama has just submitted a budget that explicitly rejects “austerity,” avoids any reform of Medicare or Social Security, and adds some $7 trillion to the national debt over the next ten years.

Now, with Iran, Israel, U.S. and Europe exchanging sanctions, threats in daily new headlines, it is hard to imagine anyone in the business world would miss the connection between surging oil, gasoline prices, and escalating tensions over Iran’s nuclear program.

Gov. Daniels points out that it has been the goal of the Obama administration to have high gas prices and he is achieving that goal as one of his few successes.

A new congressional report has determined that the Obama administration is intentionally causing high gas prices. Obama seems to be doing everything he can to increase gas prices, inhibit domestic oil drilling and ruin the coal industry. His green energy policies cause consumers to pay as much as 38% more for electricity.

Its 3.3 percent unemployment rate is the lowest of any state, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. North Dakota also boasts a state budget surplus of $1 billion. Compare these figures with California’s 11.1 percent unemployment rate—second highest in the country—and a likely $13 billion budget deficit in the coming fiscal year.. – City Journal

Let’s tell them to stop the political posturing on taxes, and focus on real fiscal responsibility, i.e., the hard task of significantly reducing the number and size of federal departments. Substantial success will require a second American Revolution, a bloodless revolution.
