We can learn from Lilliputians – Daniel Hannan

MEP Hannan reminds us that the Lilliputians had a rule that no law should be so long or complicated that a common man can’t understand it. Hannan notes that the European Parliament votes daily on so many complicated bills that no person could possibly be on top of more than two or three of the documents they vote on. “What does it tell you about a political system when it dare not express its purposes. How can it expect loyalty from its citizens when it won’t express itself clearly?”
