The Obama administration is likely to name a “czar” of some sort to oversee long-term recovery efforts in the Gulf of Mexico, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Tuesday.
President Barack Obama is likely to name at some point an individual in charge of helping Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida to help make good on his pledge to restore the Gulf to the condition it was in before he the spill happened.
“Yes, we will have someone in charge of doing that,” Gibbs said during an appearance on “Good Morning America” when asked if the president was likely to name a single person — or “czar” — in his administration to supervise the long-term efforts.
“We are going to outline tonight groups of people and someone that will be in charge of putting the recovery plan, once we get past the cleanup phase of this disaster,” Gibbs explained.
