Hugo Chavez helping Obama with illegals

August 10, 2010 09:34

Funding leftist groups, getting the Union of South American Nations to condemn Arizona and investing in amnesty for illegals shows Chavez’s Venezuelan model is being pushed here.

From IBD Editorials:

Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez is meddling in U.S. affairs these days, with his minister calling on Arizona to repeal its immigration law and end “its old habit of racism.” He’s got more in this game than he’s letting on.

Last week, the self-professed communist autocrat got down and dirty in U.S. internal affairs by pressing the 12-nation Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) to condemn the state of Arizona because of its “legitimization of racist attitudes … and the latent risk of violence by racial hatred with regrettable incidents, of which South American citizens were already victims of.”

In getting Unasur to make this statement, he won not just influence in the region, but also managed to advance his aims in the U.S.

Though not well-known, Chavez has had a longtime interest in manipulating U.S. immigration lobbies to his benefit — in addition to his better-known efforts using Joe Kennedy’s Citizens Energy to shill for his cut-rate oil to inner-city residents here.

Now listen to this California school teacher at a LaRaza rally explain how ‘our enemy is the same as Hugo Chavez’s enemy … capitalism’

From IBD Editorials:

Starting with America’s big immigration and amnesty marches in 2006, Chavez has taken aim at U.S. border affairs. Eyeing the public controversy over the then-proposed U.S. border fence with Mexico, Chavez tried to win the support of Mexican illegals in the U.S. by vowing to camp out on the border to protest the fence.

More troubling, however, in the last five years or so he’s also heaped money on U.S. Latino groups to advance his agenda.

In 2008, Citgo, the U.S. subsidiary of Venezuela’s PDVSA state oil company, announced a $1.5 million grant to CASA of Maryland, an immigrants rights group that bails illegal immigrants out after they’ve been detained by federal agents. The group’s Web site says it was the biggest gift the group ever received.

Another group, the California Coalition of Barrios Unidos, in Santa Cruz, Calif., got $100,000 from Venezuela’s government in 2006, supposedly to prevent violence among gang youth, many of whom are illegal — and who’ve since grown powerful enough in that city to require federal help. They also oppose Arizona’s law.

Another group in 2010, the National Latino Congress, which has offices in Los Angeles, noted on its Web site that Citgo had sponsored its annual conference in El Paso in 2010. The group is on the forefront of the opposition to the Arizona law, and its president was featured in the Economist magazine as a leader in the movement.

There are likely others, but Citgo’s and Venezuela’s government Web sites reveal very little.

Now listen to Obama’s own loyalty to the cause of illegals and LaRaza as he speaks at a LaRaza conference:

and another LaRaza conference

and here he says communities ‘are terrorized by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) immigration raids

and in the campaign debates Obama admits voting for illegal immigrants getting drivers licenses

Why do Obama, the Democratic Party and unions push for amnesty for illegals?

SEIU pushes immigration ‘reform’ for 8 million new ‘progressive’ voters by claiming opposition is “so f**ing rabidly racist”

Immigration Reform (a.k.a. amnesty)is a key SEIU issue as it would allow the unions to add millions of members to its rolls, filling its bank accounts, while bringing its failing pension plans closer to solvency. Unfortunately for the union much of its membership is very much opposed to amnesty. According to Executive VP Gerry Hudson even the African-American union members are very anti-illegal immigration. But in the video below Hudson reveals his strategy. He portrays the African-American workers as easy dupes “it doesn’t take a whole lot to argue African-American workers to another place.” But those white workers are “so f***ing rabidly racist.” All Hudson has to do to motivate the African-Americans is point over there to the white guys and say “look at what’s there.”

Essentially he is saying that the black people he represents are all weak-minded idiots and the whites are all racists. Gee that SEIU really has so much respect for its members:

Again from IBD Editorials:

If you’re wondering what Chavez thinks he can gain in whipping up anti-Arizona sentiment among Latino immigrant groups, look no further than the common aim of all of these groups — amnesty, and the potential votes for the left that would bring.

In 2004, Chavez mined amnesty for votes in his own country by offering a free pass to a million or so illegal immigrants, mostly impoverished war refugees from Colombia. Venezuela’s opposition saw it for what it was: a naked bid to beef up the Chavista vote count in the recall referendum he had won by questionable means that summer.

There’s plenty of evidence that model is the one some Democrat and immigrant groups are using in the states. They hope to use it to build an invincible leftist rule in this country that otherwise would be out of their reach.

It’s the Venezuelan model and it’s significant that Venezuela’s dictator Chavez has his fingerprints all over the manipulation of immigrants here against Arizona.

So we can see this common thread among Chavez, LaRaza revolutionaries, Obama, Democrats and unions to create an insurmountable voting block of perpetually agitated anti-capitalists to transform the US into something more like Greece. You’ve seen how well that turned out.
