Some Real Conservative Thoughts

A list of how real conservatives should deal with today’s hot button issues.

By Manuel Cereijo at The Americano

1. Taxes

Eliminate the progressive income tax–replace it with a flat income tax, because its purpose is to redistribute wealth, not fund the constitutionally legitimate functions of the federal government. Eliminate the automatic withholding of taxes, for it conceals the extent to which the federal government is confiscating income from its citizens. Eliminate the corporate income tax for it is double taxation on shareholders and consumers, and penalizes wealth and job creation.

2. Environment

Fight all efforts to use environmental regulations to set governmental industrial policies and diminish the nation’s standard of living to regulate man-made climate change,

Eliminate the special tax-exempt status granted to environmental groups, since they are not nonpartisan charitable foundations.

3. Health Care

Fight all efforts to nationalize the health-care system. National health care is the mother of all entitlement programs, because socialists controls not only the material wealth of the individual but its physical well-being.

4. Foreign policy and Security

Ensure that all foreign policy decisions are made for the purpose of preserving and improving our society.
Ensure that the United States remains the world’s superpower. Ensure that at all times US military forces are prepared for war to dissuade attacks, encourage peace, and, if necessary, win any war

5. Faith

Oppose all efforts to denude the nation of its founding justification-that is, God-given unalienable, natural rights that the government can neither confer on the individual nor deny to him.

Faith provides the moral order that ties one generation to the next-mine, my children, my grandchildren…-and without which the civil society cannot survive.

6. Gay Marriage

The Catholic Church opposes homosexual activity because it is intrinsically disordered, an abuse of our human nature. But legalizing same-sex marriage would also have harmful effects on society.
Marriage is a conduit through which God’s grace flows to the couple and their children. The Catholic Church understands marriage between a baptized man and woman to be a sacrament, a visible sign of the grace that God gives them to help them live their lives here and now so as to be able to join him in eternity. For Catholics, marriage is social as well as religious, but its religious.aspects are very important. Since the Church sees marriage as holy, it believes it must be treated with reverence. It also recognizes that marriage is basic to the health of society and therefore a public institution that must be defended against harm.

7. Abortion

The Roman Catholic Church has consistently condemned abortion — the direct and purposeful taking of the life of the unborn child. In principle, Catholic Christians believe that all life is sacred from conception until natural death, and the taking of innocent human life, whether born or unborn, is morally wrong. The Church teaches, “Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the creative action of God and it remains for ever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end. God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being”

8.  IMMIGRATION

Eliminate chain migration, which grants control over immigration policy to aliens and foreign governments and which socialists defend to expand his electoral state constituency.

Secure the nation’s borders and discourage those who violate them-illegal alien and citizen lawbreakers alike-by enforcing the immigration laws

9.  Free Market

The free market is the most transformative of economic systems. It fosters creativity and inventiveness. It produces new industries, products, and services, as it improves upon existing ones. The free market creates more wealth and opportunities for more people than any other economic model. We believe that the individual is more than a producer and consumer of material goods. The key is PRIVATE PROPERTY.
