It was a political ploy to give credence to the claims made by Obama, holder, Clinton and Napolitano that gun sales in the US needed to be restricted because of drug cartel violence in Mexico. The facts disproved their claims so they decided to invent some with this crazy gun smuggling operation that has led to hundreds of Mexican deaths and the murder of a US Border Patrol agent.
