Obama’s Jewell to Help Kill Coal, Raise Energy Costs

Obama’s nominee for interior secretary is another anti-energy, carbon taxing, wacko environmentalist consistent with Obama’s promise of making electricity rates “skyrocket.”

Sally Jewell stated in a 2007 interview with Forbes of a cap and trade system “I think it’s something that should be very seriously looked at.”

Obama’s nominee for interior secretary is another anti-energy, carbon taxing, wacko environmentalist consistent with Obama’s promise of making electricity rates “skyrocket.”

She also agrees with Obama and other tyrannical greenies that you don’t know what is good for you and the government will have to force you to change by making it in your “economic interest.”

‘If we’re going to have real change in this country, it has to be in people’s economic self-interest to do the right thing. And there are various ways that one might accomplish that, but I think expecting voluntary changes that aren’t in people’s economic interest [are] probably not likely to make the kind of change that needs to happen. If it’s in people’s interest to invest in renewables and invest in clean technologies, I’m convinced it will happen” [emphasis added]

It is the dictatorial leftists that think only they can decide what “the right thing” is for you to have to do. Obama warned that under his plan of a cap and trade system “electricity rates would necessarily have to skyrocket.” But its for your own good.

In her defense these statements were made before the global warming scam was exposed by leaked emails showing the fraud and manipulation of data in the U.N. IPCC report that is the basis for most of the global warming lie. Yet like Al Gore who makes hundreds of millions on the hoax, the dogma is sacrosanct and the control that the man made warming myth can provide over Americans, energy and money is the holy grail of leftist tyranny.

Energy is involved in everything. Every service and product uses energy in raw materials, manufacturing, transportation, marketing, distribution, retail sales; and plants, equipment and buildings. Energy is the gold and he who controls energy controls the gold.

C. S. Lewis said “Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive.” Radicals like Jewell and Obama really believe they know what’s best for you, your fellow Americans and even the world.

Obama and Democrats use concern for the environment as a hammer to beat people into submission and plunder the treasury. Billions of dollars of taxpayer money (which has to be borrowed from future generations) is stolen and given to big campaign supporters and supporters of the leftist agenda. The EPA even funds groups that sue them.

Obama rants about everyone paying their “fair share” yet his green schemes allow his rich supporters to avoid taxes and even get taxpayer money. His fake “jobs council” was headed by GE which pays no taxes and has shipped most of its jobs to China. Billions have been given to Obama campaign bundlers in various green schemes like Solyndra, Beacon Power and over a dozen others.

And just what are “green jobs”? Jobs that cost over $13 MILLION each and added higher electric costs as a bonus?

Obama keeps up the “green” jobs myth by counting some surprising jobs as “green.” Used clothing sales, used record shops and driving a school bus all pass as “green” jobs in Obama’s magical mythical green jobs scam. Rep. Darrell Issa asked Obama’s top Dept. of Labor statistician what “green” jobs are. See more “green jobs” categories here.

In fact, this push for “green” jobs actually kills jobs in the private sector by driving up energy costs and hurting the economy. Spain was originally Obama’s “green” jobs model. That was until a study of Spain’s green jobs programs showed that for every “green” job created 2.2 jobs were lost.

“A study released in January of 2010 showed that every “green job” created with government money in Spain over the previous eight years came at the cost of 2.2 regular jobs, and only one in 10 of the newly created green jobs became a permanent job. The study draws parallels with the green jobs programs of the Obama administration.” [emphasis added]

Obama used Spain’s green initiative as a blueprint for how the United States should use federal funds to stimulate the economy. Obama’s economic stimulus package allocated billions of dollars to the “green jobs” industry. Much of that has been wasted as Solyndra and and several other “green” companies have filed bankruptcy. Spain’s unemployment reached 22.8% which is the highest in 17 years. The “green” jobs myth helped cause the problem.

One of the grand green schemes of the Obama administration was the DOE loan program that made taxpayer guaranteed loans available to supposedly “green” companies. Veronique de Rugy, a senior research fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, showed how the program ended up costing $6.7 million per job created:

“The 1705 program (under which Solyndra received funding) deserves particular attention. This program is a product of the economic stimulus bill of 2009. The data shows that:

26 projects were funded under the 1705, and guaranteed roughly $16 billion in total.

Some 2,378 permanent jobs were claimed to be created under the program. This works out to a potential cost per job of $6.7 million.

The recipient of the most 1705 loans is NRG Energy Inc.

NRG Energy Inc. received $3.8 billion (23.7 percent of the overall amount guaranteed under the 1705).

Four companies received 64 percent, or $10.3 billion, of the total amount guaranteed under the 1705 program.

So what does this mean? First, very few permanent green jobs were created under the 1705 loan program (or any of the other loan programs). To the extent that permanent “green jobs” were created, the $6.7 million cost per job is quite spectacular. This trend and number also dismisses this particular loan program as a job program.” [emphasis added]

In one instance one green company, Terra Gen, used hundreds of millions of taxpayer funded grants to create 50 jobs at a cost of $9 MILLION each.

More of your money is blowing in the wind. In “How Obama’s Energy Policy Will Kill Jobs“, an article in The American by Thomas A. Hemphill and Mark J. Perry, it was pointed out that wind power jobs have cost $14 MILLION each!

“according to these companies and state and local government economic development officials, those [wind farm] projects employ only about 300 workers, at a cost to taxpayers of more than $14 million per permanent job.” [emphasis added]

Unfortunately Sally Jewell is only going to help perpetuate the insanity.
