This is the latest example, particularly illustrative, showing that Washington is less and less about ideas and values, and more and more about interests, power, and money. In this case, we’re talking about unions. Of the $26 billion the bill appropriates, $16 billion goes to state Medicaid programs and the other $10 billion to unionized state and local government employees.- Star Parker

5 Ways the Incestuous Left is Pimping Your Kids for Cash and Votes
We’ve heard the stories: from the teacher complaining to NJ Governor Chris Christie, to reports of banned candy canes, to Planned Parenthood distributing condoms in elementary schools. It’s apparent there’s a connected, concerted effort by the Left to exploit our children. But what does a classroom full of kids have to offer liberals? Follow the money and the politics. Dems’ true priority
Voters’ focus on spending forced Democrats to make a telling choice this week — between public unions and folks on food stamps. Guess who they picked? Yup: To fund another bailout — $26 billion to save teaching and other government jobs — Dems cut money meant to feed the poor. – From the New York Post!
Washington Post Has Watergate Scandal of Its Own
Not only does a Post company now stand accused of fraudulent practices, two high-powered law firms are considering lawsuits on behalf of the shareholders of the Post against the company’s directors, including Warren Buffett and Bill Gates’ wife Melinda.
Are Dems fooling anyone?
Michele Bachmann says Speaker Pelosi called Members of Congress to leave their districts and return to D.C. yesterday to pass a $26 billion spending bill to help their union friends and enrich their own campaigns for November.
Democrats Play Favorites On Jobs
All this money going to public employee union members thrills labor unions. The Hill newspaper reports that unions plan a massive campaign for Democrats as a reward for this new spending. As soon as the new spending is passed, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka promises: “We will do the most intensive on-the-ground education program that we have done in a number of years.”
The Left’s Special-Interest Human Shields
In a cynical ploy to evade accountability for the Democrats’ continued fiscal recklessness, Pelosi accused opponents of the $26 billion public-employee-union-bailout bill of “demeaning” teachers — and nurses, police officers, and firefighters. – Michelle Malkin at NRO
Un-American American History Courses
Arizona’s Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tom Horne, says the basic theme of the Mexican-American studies program is that Latino students “were and continue to be victims of a racist American society driven by the interests of middle- and upper-class whites.” Among the goals listed for the Mexican-American Studies are “social justice” and “Latino Critical Race Pedagogy.” Pictures of the classroom showed the walls decorated with “heroes,” such as Fidel Castro and Che Guevara.
Bailing Out Teachers
Democrats on Capitol Hill are literally taking food out of the mouths of the most needy to pay back their political cronies. For public employee unions, this is payback for their extensive support of Democratic politicians.
American teachers should revolt
A little over a year ago, I wrote a column suggesting that due to the blatant hostility the National Education Association was expressing towards Christians, it was time for Christian teachers to withdraw their membership from the NEA. As it turns out, the focus of my call to abandon this radically left lobby group was a bit too narrow. As evidenced by its own website, the NEA is not merely anti-Christian, they are anti-American as well. – Peter Heck at OneNewsNow
