Landrieu blamed the administration’s drilling ban — put in place as administration officials review new federal drilling standards in the wake of the Gulf of Mexico spill — for economically hurting the region more than the spill itself.

Attorneys general from 19 other states joined the Florida suit. They represent Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Idaho, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Washington.

Jindal told reporters: “The experts all agree, we can end this moratorium before six months. Let’s put our people back to work.”
